Prepare Yourself for an Afternoon of Delight and Wonderment!!!

I just wanted to say that I’m super excited about this week. It may seem odd that I’m posting my excitement about this week as this week has already started, but I’m totally excited nonetheless. Part of this has to do with the fact that I’m wearing jeans. Glorious, wonderful, amazing jeans! This is both a great week for PRA and a great week for the animals that have lent their coats to create the masterpiece that is denim. (Yes, I know denim doesn’t come from animals, but isn’t it a lot more fun to think of some 4-legged creature on the slopes on the Ural Mountains in Russia wandering around, safe in the knowledge that their fur will ultimately become the fabric that every human being desires to wear during their work weeks.) In that vein, thank you to everyone here that made this Jeans Week a reality!

Now, let’s move on to the real reason for my joy and elation about the upcoming days. As many of you may know, PRA is once again sponsoring a tent at the KCCC Kick-Off Party out at the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City, MO. Why is this so excitement inducing? Because, dear friends, the KCCC Kick-Off Party is quite possibly one of the best displays of corporate camaraderie and cohesion in the entire Midwest. (Yes, I just made a rash generalization that might not be indicative of the actual state of things, but seeing as we’re all living in the Midwest, I feel pretty safe with that assumption.)

But Chase, why would we drive all the way out to I-435 and I-70 for this event? It is indeed a "haul" for many of us, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives and the pros far outstretch the cons for both rational and non-rational schools of thought (mmm…wordplay). The first thing everyone always asks is whether there will there be food and drinks. There will be oodles of both, and better yet, they will be FREE! FREE! FREE! (You can never get enough FREE in your life is what I always say!)

But this isn’t even the best part of the day. Not by a long shot…

Yes, there will be games (If you’re lucky, I just might offer up a shot at the 2009 Washers crown that I claimed last year), and yes, there is a Kid’s Zone for children. The one caveat being that they don’t let 6’7" kids in to the moonwalk though, which is kind of unfair if you ask me, but then again, I had to face that sad fact at the tender age of 7 years old when people stopped giving me candy at Halloween because I was too tall. Whoever heard of denying candy to children, and why on earth would they choose to do it at night when a 5 and a half foot 2nd grader is standing on their porch in a raccoon costume, sobbing uncontrollably. I’m really not bitter though.

And yet, all these things still don’t come close reaching the zenith of fun that the KCCC Kick-Off Party really is...

The best part of the entire afternoon is the oft forgotten fact that when you are out experiencing the free food, free drinks, free games, the discriminatory Kid’s Zone, and all of the other things that this party has to offer, there are tons and tons of people at companies around the area that aren’t participating in the Kick-Off Party. These unfortunate souls are forced to remain in their cubicles and offices while you enjoy the wonderment that is the KCCC Kick-Off Party. Yes, kind folks, you get the chance to enjoy all of this while most people have to remain at work. I always feel better knowing that I’m outside on a beautiful Friday afternoon, enjoying food, drinks, and conversations with my co-workers all while someone else is slaving away tirelessly in a land far, far away.

So, please, come join us (work permitting, of course) at the KCCC Kick-Off Party and Walk this Friday, April 30th from 4pm-8pm. Bring yourself, your appetite, your family, and their appetites, and be prepared for the afternoon of your lives!

PS: One more thing… FREE! FREE! FREE!
